CNN host Don Lemon claimed on Monday Jesus Christ was not "best" while he was in the world while discussing the talk over statues and memorials that honor the USA' Founding Fathers after President Trump made a pre-Independence Day speech at Mount Rushmore.
Fellow host Chris Cuomo pointed out individuals are unsuitable to use the "the place does it end" slippery slope argument when it involves statues.
"That's now not coming from a place of good judgment. no one is asserting — it in no way ends. Yeah, it does conclusion. first off. as a result of what you're dealing with is a time in historical past the place slavery turned into k. and how you reconcile that with the place you need to be. It's not about erase. It's about suitable location and concern frustrates that effort," Cuomo said.
"It is not just Trumpers. And supporters. It's very smartly-which means liberals as smartly who're feeling these things. And if you are having those feelings then probably that ability you have got a moral sense about it. And that's really the appropriate feeling to have and also you should still be engaged in discussion. but here's the component, Jesus Christ, in case you that's who you accept as true with in Jesus Christ, admittedly became no longer ultimate when he became right here on the earth," Lemon pointed out.
"So why are we deifying the Founders of the nation? Many owned slaves and in the charter, they didn't — they put slavery in there. it would be abolished because it become the King and the Congress mentioned no means. in order that they needed to come up with an alternative of three-fifths and on and on," Lemon persisted.
He delivered while the Founding Fathers did do some extraordinary things, "they weren't best either. And so as americans, all of us should still come together and have conversations and get together and prevent letting somebody divide us. no person is excellent. Nothing is best. no longer even the Founding Fathers."
1 Peter 2:21-22 in the Bible states, "For to this you were referred to as, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you could follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither changed into deceit present in his mouth."
